Peyote Dagger Bracelet – 2015

This design is for intermediate beaders. You must know how to do peyote stitch.

Workable in both our little 10x3mm daggers and the big 16x5mm.

Peyote stitch base with Dagger fringe for a fantastic bracelet full of movement!

Here is what you’ll need:

Start with the base of this bracelet and then work to embellish the top with daggers. The base of the bracelet is made in Peyote Stitch:

  1. Cut a length of thread about 5 yards long and thread it through a needle.
  2. String on three size 6 beads. Push them halfway down your thread leaving a tail about ½ yard long. Wrap your tail around a small card to keep it out of your way. You’ll use the tail thread later. Starting with a long thread will prevent you from having to start a new one.
  3. Pick up one size 6 bead and pass back through the second bead you added.
  4. Pick up one size 6 bead and tie your working thread to the tail thread with a secure knot.
  5. Pass back through the bead you have just added. Add one more size 6 bead, skip over one bead and pass through the next.
  6. Pick up one size 6 bead and pass back through the last bead you added. Pick up one size 6 bead and pass your needle under the thread connecting the two beads directly below the bead you are adding.
  7. Pass back through the last bead you added. Add one more size 6 bead, skip over one bead and pass through the next.
  8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 until your band is the desired length. You can always add length, but it is difficult to shorten the band. To find out more about PEYOTE STITCH google it on the internet.

Add clasp of your choice to the band.
Add dagger beads:

  1. If you’ve not threaded the needle onto your tail yet, do it now. With your thread coming from the edge of your bracelet, string on 5-6 dagger beads. Find the corresponding edge bead on other edge of your bracelet. Pass your thread over your seed bead band and pass your thread through the beads of your base at a diagonal, starting with the corresponding bead.
  2. Repeat step 11, adding dagger beads the entire length of your bracelet.
  3. Anchor your thread by working it back and forth through the woven fabric of beads and tying knots if desired.

ENJOY!
