Meet Michelle – new jewelry designer at Eureka Crystal Beads

Hello Beaders!

DSC00014

I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Michelle Whitman and I am the new Head Designer at Eureka Crystal Beads. I’ve been working in the Jewelry Industry for over 30 years making product for Nationally known large boutique store chains. I guess you could say that I have a real passion for the craft of jewelry making. But my love affair for Toho, Czech glass and Swarovski Crystal started when I was pregnant and my doctor took me out of work because I was having difficulties. Naturally I gravitated to the local bead store to keep myself occupied. There I started attending the classes and developed skills and techniques that I’ll be sharing with you in future blogs and posts. Today I see so many new options for beading creations like Ava Beads, 3-hole Cali Beads and Tinos par Puca Czech Glass Beads. So stay tuned and be sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram or subscribe to our YouTube channel and we’ll have a great time creating treasure for ourselves and our loved ones.

You will  “bead your heart out”!

3-hole Czech Glass Ava beads and 3-hole Czech Glass Cali Beads

Short time ago we were adding 3-hole Arcos par Puca beads and 3-hole Beam beads to our stock wondering if any more of 3-hole bead shapes could be coming in the future. We didn’t have to wait long. Our newest additions are 3-hole Ava beads and 3-hole Cali beads which expanded our 3-hole glass bead category to four uniquely shaped beads.

3-hole Czech Glass AVA beads have a unique “V” shape. One hole is placed at the base of the “V” and the other two go through the two arms of the bead. Ava beads are hand-pressed glass beads. They measure 10×4 mm and are about 3 mm thick. They have large holes, which will easily accommodate multiple passes of stringing material.

Cali beads are marquise-shaped with three evenly spaced parallel holes placed about 2 mm apart. Their marquise, or navette shape allows for creating curvatures and tapered edges in beaded designs. You can use them in elaborated bead weaving as well as in simple stringing projects as spacers.

New Czech PRONG Beads and new CzechMates: 3-hole BEAM beads & 2-hole CABOCHON beads

January is a busy month for beading. We are all trying to get ready for the next season, Tucson show starts at the end of the month and, as almost every year at this time, we are anxiously waiting for the launch of the new glass beads from the Czech Republic. It seems like there is no end to the ingenuity of the Czech bead-masters. This year we’ll soon be able to play with CzechMates 3-hole Beam Beads, CzechMates 2-hole Cabochons and Prong Beads.

CzechMates 3-hole Beams look like stretched 2-hole Bars with a third hole added in the middle. 3-hole beams are 10×3 mm in size. They can be used as spacers or with other beads as linking components . Free patterns for all three shapes are already available on our site, so please check out free patterns.

CzechMates 2-hole Cabochons are flat at the bottom and have a domed top. These beads were first offered for a pre-sale as 6mm Cabochons and then while we were all waiting for the delivery Czech manufacturer reclassified them as 7mm. Their actual size is 6.5mm so be careful not to confuse them with 2-hole Cabochons which look identical but are smaller and measure exactly 6mm. The size difference when you compare both Cabochons is quite dramatic.

Prong Beads look like a shark’s tooth and measure 6×3 mm. They have only one hole and can be used individually as small drops or in bead-weaving patterns.

All three new Czech bead shapes are available now in a large assortment of colors on Eureka Crystal Beads website.
